Editorial Policy

Who we are

Eventchaser is produced by a small Chicago-based editorial team that attends events, photographs them, and interviews the organizers, DJs, chefs and designers behind them. Coverage decisions are made by our editors in Chicago, not by an outside network or an automated feed. You can reach the team any time through our contact page.

How we choose what to cover

We prioritize events that are open to the public in the Chicago metropolitan area and that matter to the communities we serve. In practice, that means we weigh:

• Cultural significance to a Chicago neighborhood or community
• Whether the organizer is local, independent, or historically under-covered
• Whether the event is verifiable — a real venue, a real date, a working ticket link
• Whether we can add something a ticket page cannot: context, history, or firsthand reporting

Sourcing and verification

Every event listing is checked against a primary source before it is published: the organizer's own site, the venue's calendar, the official ticketing page, or a statement from the promoter. Dates, venues, and ticket links are re-checked when an organizer announces a change.

When our reporting builds on work published elsewhere, we say so on the page and link out to the original with clear attribution. We do not republish other outlets' articles. We do not publish details we cannot verify, and we do not invent quotes, prices, lineups, or attendance figures.

Reader and organizer submissions

Anyone can submit an event through our submission form. Submissions are reviewed by an editor before publication and are edited for accuracy, clarity, and house style. A submission is never a guarantee of coverage, and submitting an event does not buy placement. Our submission guidelines explain what we need from organizers.

Advertising and independence

Eventchaser is free to read and supported by advertising, including display advertising sold directly and served through third-party ad networks. Advertisers have no influence over editorial decisions, coverage, rankings, or the wording of any listing.

Any post that is paid for, sponsored, or produced in partnership with a brand is labeled as such on the page itself. Ad units are visually distinct from editorial content and are never disguised as articles or event listings. Details for advertisers are on our advertise page.

Corrections

If something we published is wrong, we fix it. Send the URL and what is inaccurate through the contact page. Factual corrections are made as soon as they are confirmed, and substantive corrections are noted on the page. Event details that change after publication — a moved date, a new venue, a canceled show — are updated in place, because a reader arriving late still needs the right information.

Use of AI

Editorial judgment, reporting, and final review are human. We may use software to help with formatting, research triage, or copy editing, but no article or listing is published without an editor reading it and confirming the facts.
